Here at Poppadom, we place a great deal of importance on social responsibility. We have an uncompromising attitude when it comes to ethical behaviour and the charity initiatives we are involved with as well as environmental sustainability are key concerns for us that sit alongside our commitments to good customer service and great tasting food. Not only do we that adhere to these values and policies but we are always looking to improve, review and update them on a ongoing basis. We also welcome suggestions from our valued customers!
Our code of conduct and ethics sets a high standard for behavioral conduct in areas that include workplace health, safety and environment, human rights, harassment and discrimination. Every Poppadom team member must sign up to this code!
Environmental Policy
As mentioned, the damage being done to the health of our planet is a primary concern for us . As a business involved in takeaway food, we know that we and other takeaway businesses can make a big difference when it comes to preserving the environment. Accordingly, we remain focused on sourcing environmental solutions that will lessen our carbon footprint, while serving as an example to our peers. Our policy focuses on finding solutions that reduce our own footprint both in terms of “input” packaging and “output” packaging. For example, we will avoid using plastic bags in our packaging and not offer disposable plastic cutlery. All our plastic packaging will also be reclyable where possible.
Energy efficiency
By generating less energy, buildings emit fewer greenhouse gases thereby reducing our carbon footprint. Therefore, at Poppadom we strive to ensure that, where possible, our premises are energy efficient.
We have purchased state of the art refrigeration and freezing equipment that are effective in saving energy and most of our lighting (including in our signage) uses LED (LEDs consume up to 90% less power than incandescent bulbs. By using only a fraction of the energy of an incandescent light bulbs, they contribute to making a significant difference).
